Prayers and Swearing... May Help You Find Your Life Partner... ðŸ˜Ū

Have you ever experienced panic; the type that takes your breath away, stalls your heart and squeezes the blood out of your head? It will grip your balls (or ovaries) in a vice – and won’t let go. That’s the type of hell I went through yesterday. Yetâ€Ķ it all began as a casual walk - down by the lake.

I flung my knapsack quickly over my shoulders, locked the car doors and trudged down towards the grassy path and to the old convent – hugging that inlet over to my left. The sun beamed brightly in the clean blue sky as a fresh breeze blew in from the open water.  I walked with a purpose; to get some exercise. The grounds were littered with people sprawled and promenading everywhere.

My usual routine was to hike around the old windmill, past the school, over to the marina and then across the soccer field and back to where I started from. The distance varies, but usually it would be three miles or so. Halfway through my jaunt – I paused to take a sip of water and that’sâ€Ķ when I noticed it.

There are five zippers on my rucksack and they were all closed – except for the one where I had placed my cell phone. It was open and my phone was nowhere to be found. “Ohâ€Ķ for fucks sake,” I thought to myself, “This couldn’t be”. Anyone who knows me knows how I love to brag about my stupid cell device; ‘It’s got the 'scratch ‘n sniff' option. It can power a small village in Africa. It can do anything a full sized computer can do. Blah, blah, blah’.  I’m sure some of you are sick of hearing me brag about the damn thing. Wellâ€Ķ my fucking phone - my ‘life partner’ - was lost.  Yepâ€Ķ That’s the moment I turned white and panicked.

I’d been walking for close to an hour in that packed park; I didn’t loose a second. Fervently, I began retracing my steps exactly as I remembered them – all the while peering eagerly and nervously at the ground. My theory was; if I looked concerned enough, perhaps the person who found it would notice and walk up to me (smiling) and gift me, my precious piece of electronics. Dreams do come true – don’t they?  No such fricken luck. My imagination and the horror of what I’d done, gripped my throat, as I pictured the consequences of my stupidity.

Over two thousand pictures in storage – including my dick pics – were the LEAST of my concerns. I was still logged on to 'A F F' and I hadn’t bothered to lock my phone. All of my passwords - to everything - were available to anyone.  My electronic credit cards were visible and of course - I owed the phone company a substantial amount of money for the balance of the lease on that brand new piece of lost hardware! I prayed, if there was a God or any Higher Deity - He or She would forgive some of my transgressions and help me locate my dear lifeline. As I eventually approached the parking lot (and my car), I was sad, depressed and beside myself with anguish over my dumb carelessness. How could I have been so stupid? And thenâ€Ķ

As I neared my car, I spied a black rectangular thingy lying five feet from my door – right next to a parked motorcycle. “Was it? Could it be?“, I screamed in my head. “There’s my fucking phone,”  intact, unbroken, unharmed and waiting - for me to pick it up. I don’t think you can imagine my joy, my disbelief - my utter happiness. It must have fallen out of my knapsack when I flipped it over my shoulders. What a HUGE relief!

Unfortunately, I won’t be on this site as often as I used to be. I’ve made some promises I have to keep and I don’t believe my church permits cell phone use on sex sites, during the thrice daily services.

I’ve lost other things over the years. Some I’ve recovered and others; never to be seen again.

What panic story of loss (or almost loss) do you have...
... and did prayers help? ðŸĪ”

Did I ever tell you the story of when I lost the keys to my car down an elevator shaft in a hotel – at four in the morning? Hmmmâ€Ķ Perhaps that’s a tale for another time.ðŸ˜Ū🍷🍷

I am so glad tragedy was averted! And thanks for making me so glad that I don't have to worry about that stuff with a flip phone!

I love that windmill. Put that on my list of places to see should I ever visit Montreal.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

When you have your 'whole life' enshrined on your phone, anytime you 'misplace' it can be cause for panic. Perhaps it wouldn't have been still laying there if concerns about picking up 'germs' didn't exist thanks to the 'virus'
Although it was a different type of 'loss', my 'moments of panic' occurred when I was to appear in court regarding a matter with my soon to be 'ex'. We happened to end up on the same elevator along with a deaf person when it stalled between floors. I was more worried about getting reprimanded by the Judge for being late. After what seemed like a lifetime, the looks on people's faces when we both exited was priceless.

That is a fantastic (i.e. hilarious ) title to go with this story.

I'm happy that I have the version that uses a fingerprint to unlock...although I suppose if I dropped it and someone picked it up during the 30 seconds or so before it went black, I might be in trouble.

Usually when I'm in a panic like that it turns out that I put it in a different pocket of my backpack. There have also been a couple of times when the phone fell into the crack between the seats in the car....I do 'find my iPhone' and I KNOW it's somewhere in the house or garage but cannot find it....the worst!

I've lost lots of things but never my cell phone. Don't ever lose a key fob -exxxxpensive. My cell phone is very secured. I've never worried about losing it. My pics upload to the cloud right away and there is no way anyone could get anything useful off it.

I need to get back to the older parts of Quebec - have loved my trips there. We used to spend lots of time there growing up as both parents families are from there. Great pictures.

Phones are easy to manage when you have security measures in place. I do but I got careless and never flipped the switch. My bad! I was over confident. ðŸĪ”ðŸ˜Ū
That windmill is circa - 1784, and it's interesting but we can't step in there. I keep waiting for the tour. It's an interesting place to visit... That's for sure.
There are other spots with open doors and if you like history - the city was founded on May 17, 1674. So... 👍❗How's your list of lighthouses? Ya think things will open up for you this summer? ðŸĪ”

It's true about that virus and why the phone was untouched. Although... it looked like discarded black piece of plastic... lol 😂 Good point about that bug.
Your moment with your ex sounds like a classic worthy of greater detail,

The thing is... I have ALL of those features, but because I always stop and take pics.... I had deactivated ALL of those features.
To be clear though... I wasn't concerned about data - as much as I was condemned that I hadn't LOCKED 🔒 the damn thing!

I agree it's a pain to snap pictures when the phone is locked. I finally learned that on an iPhone you can just swipe from the lock screen (without putting in passcode or fingerprint) and it will take you straight to the camera.

If you have an Android your mileage may vary!

I really feel fro you and for those whose lives are embedded in their cell phones, Fortunately you recovered yours. Yes, I have one but noting is in is that would cripple me financially. I have no financial apps and I do not shop using my cell phone. Unfortunately, the entire world thinks everyone has one or should get one. 99% of places that I say I have a landline are stunned. Now for the agonizing portion I had my passport in my hand along with my driver's license and car registration on Augusts 18t when I left DMV. In My Hand!! I cannot find my passport!! ANYWHERE And The US Passport is not issuing any new ones due to COVID, Yep so I am having a hidden panic attack

Yes.....i ve had that feeling. Came home from work, called to husband...no answer.....so i go upstairs to see him on the floor beside the bed, unable to answer me. It was raining, the ambulance driver, cautions me to ' be careful following us to the hospital'. The feeling overcame me, when they wouldnt take me to his curtained off area, but instead led me to this small dimly lit room, and left me there alone. The feeling was overwhelming. What was maybe 8 minutes, seemed like hours , when a dr n nurse came in to tell me my husband (my lifeline ) was now dead.

I am very glad you were able to recover yours ~~

Your 'lifeline' was significantly more important, vital and impactful than my trivial phone.
Perspective on life's trials and tribulations can be measured in so many ways. I eventually would have survived the loss of my phone.
I hope you eventually found some solace somewhere, somehow in your loss.

There is always solace in prayer. Notwithstanding my facetious attempt to make light of MY plight - I have used prayer, meditation, and other means to put closure on things that have affected me in life.

I have lost a few things in my life and one was a child. As for my cell phone, I do not have anything in it and half of the time I never carry it with me. As for a life partner, yelling and screaming at the Lord will not get you that. Yes I ask him to put the one in my life every night, but it will happen when God thinks I am ready. Everything is in is time not your's .

The Light is shinning and she is lonely and waiting in the darkness.

Loosing a child is certainly more vital than what I lost.
I guess I'm reliant on that thing a touch too much, if you know what I mean.
It was a panic situation and at the time - prayers and getting angry were my two options.
You're lucky you're NOT tied to your phone . Good for you !!!
I understand what you mean.
